We finally did it.....

After much discussion and soul searching, thinking that probably we are the fussy ones, or we probably make bad employers when it comes maids, we decided to send our maid to the agent for counselling.

We gave her a one-day leave. Dropped her off at the agent's house and told her we will pick her up the next day. In the mean time, we went for a much needed break. We went to Port Dickson. I will tell more about that (the break) in another posting.

Prior to dropping her off, we had met up with the agent a week earlier, to seek his advice, as to what we should do in dealing with our maid. It has come to a point when not a day would pass by without her giving me problems. I was constantly under stress and it was beginning to also affect my hubby, and my son was also starting to feel the heat of my stress.

The peak of it was last Sunday when she let in a contractor into our house, even though it was only for a brief moment for him to pick up his things which he had left after doing some repair works to the house. I had many times told her never to open the gate to strangers.

We (my hubby, son and I) were upstairs taking an afternoon nap when I heard the gate opening and closing. At first I thought it was the neighbours (I am a light sleeper), but after a while, I realised that the sound sounded too near, and I got up to check. I was shocked to see a man loading up his van with construction things belonging to our contractor and with my maid passing a pail to him filled up with other working things.

I hurriedly rushed down, calling out to my maid, asking her why she had let in a stranger (she never met the contractor before this because it was his workers that came to do the repair works) when I had specifically told her never to open the gate 2 strangers. By the time I got down, that stranger had left the house in his van.

Her answer? "Puan tidur, saya tak nak ganggu" (You were sleeping. I did not want to disturb you). I had once told her before that should a stranger come a calling, and if noone is at home or if I did not hear her when she knocks on my bedroom door, no matter what, she is not to open the door. She should either keep on knocking on my door, or, if it is urgent that that person needs to talk to me, to tell the stranger to call me, or my hubby, on the phone, or come back later.

When I tried to explain to her the danger of opening the door to strangers, she had this very annoyed look on her face, like she is mad at me for scolding her. She just doesn't want to admit that she is in the wrong. She must think that she is one very smart women, and smart people shouldn't need to be told what can and cannot be done (or so she thinks).

She refused to look me in the eye, and all this while, while I was talking to her, she went about doing her chores with a very sour face. Even when I told her to stop doing her chores and come and sit down so that I can explain to her why I scolded her, she just wouldn't budge frm cleaning the fridge. She just kept at it (cleaning the fridge) even though I kept calling out to her. Eventually I got up and went to her (my hubby said that I shouldn't have gotten up).

That was the last straw. I could no longer take this attitude anymore. I could tolerate her not-up-to standard work, but this attitude problem is getting way out of hand where is she starting to purposely want to annoy me. I cannot forget the look on her face as I spoke to her as she cleaned the fridge that day. It was a face of great annoyance (I can't really explain or put it in words that can actually make you imagine that expression correctly), and that of someone who needs her head checked.

Anyway, back to present day (sorry for blabbering! *wink*), when we went to pick up our maid the next day, the agent told us that she complained, among many other things, that she has to work long hours (getting up early and sleeping late). She wakes up at 5.00 am (I get up at 5.15 am) and she is in bed by 10.00 to 10.30 pm on most days (my hubby and I sleep much later than that). It was only one month (mid January to mid February) that there were a few late nights as we were preparing for my brother's wedding and my FIL's birthday party.

The other late nights were when we take out my in-laws for dinner, we work outstation and take a late flight back, or when my hubby goes to the gym. Days like these are not often. On these days, she normally sleeps first at 10.00 pm and gets up only to open the door.

She has to work two houses (my MIL's house and our house). There are 3 other maids at my MIL's house - my SIL's maid, my BIL's maid and my MIL's maid. My maid's job is just to take care of my son and his things. When my son goes to school (she has taken naps sometimes during those times), she is relatively free and once in a while, my MIL would ask her to help her. She is picky (berkira) and always has accuses not to follow my MIL's instructions.

My two previous maids have been able to work happily together with my MIL's and SIL's previous maids in the same situation for the past 4-5 years with no major problems. The previous batch of maids have mutual respect for one another, and they work together to help out my MIL to take care of 4 children, cook, and clean up the house, though the major portion of the work is done by my MIL's maid as the head butler, as we like to call her role.

My maid said that she is not comfortable that we are always inspecting her work, like we dn't trust her. With my two previous maids, I always inspect their work the 1st 3 months they start working for us to make sure that they carry out their work the way I had taught them to do. After I am satisfied that they are trustworthy and will carry out their chores according to the rules I have set out, I will no longer need to inspect or monitor their work and can get on with doing my own things like stitching or card making! *wink*

It only took me a month of monitoring my 1st maid before I was satisfied that she is doing her job correctly, while it took slightly over 2 months for my 2nd maid to need monitoring, but it has been close to 6 months already with this present maid, and I am still not satisfied with the way she does things because the minute she knows that I am not within her vision, she cuts corner (curi tulang). When asked if she had done what she is supposed to do, she will quickly answer `yes', but, upon inspection, she has yet to do it. When asked why she said she had done it when she hasn't, she said that she forgot. Can you belive this woman? And she expects me to trust her? *sigh*

Anything else she complained? Yes, she does not like the fact that I sort out my laundry and load the washing machine myself. She only takes them out to dry. Again, she says that I don't trust her. She is right! I don't trust her. When she 1st came, I told her that my working clothes are to be hand washed only, but I have caught her dumping everthing inside the washing machine! Can I trust this woman?

Ooohh! The list is endless, but basically, the agent agreed with us that her head needs checking, she has a attitude problem and, to put it short, she is LAZY! She makes up accuses to get away from doing chores and lies if she thinks that it will get her off from doing certain things. She has no initiative to do things on her own, and needs to be reminded constantly even of routine things.

After all that, are we still retaining her? We had a long chat/discussion with her with the agent present. I followed-up with another pep talk with her alone when we got home last night. She is under probation for a month. Basically we told her that we are going to go on observing and monitoring her work until she can prove to us that she is worthy of our trust. She will have to change her attitude and will not make any more accuses to get out of doing chores, or when instructed to do things. I told her I do not wish to see her sour face anymore in the house and she is to respond to me immediately with a smile.

Do I have faith that she will change? Bad habits die hard but she is young. She can change IF she wants to. It is now all up to her. In the mean time, we will just have wait and see. We are leaving our options open. I wish ourselves the BEST OF LUCK! May Allah give us patience.

My say.....

I watched Anugerah Bintang Popular 2005 last weekend at my mother-in-law's house. I missed the award for the best male radio presenter, but was hoping that one of the K&K (Khairil & Kieran) from Radio Era would get it. I enjoy their breakfast antics everyday as I travel to work, and was a tinged disappointed that they lost to Halim Othman instead. *sigh*

Yeah! There have been times when I do get bored of listening to the same old songs being played over and over again, but I never bore of listening to their (K&K) fun antics. Definitely much more than I enjoy listening to Halim Othman! They make a good team, K&K, better than when Khairil was being partnered with Halim.

Most of the time, when one of them calls in sick or is on leave, the morning drive to work just isn’t the same, and I think I am not the only one who feels that way. There has been callers who call in complaining why one or the other has to take leave for the breakfast show just isn’t the same with just ONE of them. The K& K team is not complete!

To me, Halim is too full of himself (oops! Sorry fans of Halim Othman, but this is MY say!). Yeah! I know, just because he is handsome, or so he thinks (yeah, I won’t deny it – in a way he does have the looks, but my vote would still go to K&K when it comes to the joy of listening), it sometimes gets to his head in the way he presents himself. This is MY say….. it puts me off listening to him!

Radio Era works hard to promote K&K, because throughout the day, you would be able to catch snippets of the breakfast show, but, unfortunately not enough to garner enough votes to win the prestigious award. It is always the handsome or the pretty ones that win, never the talented. *sigh* Our general public has yet to mature when it comes to the voting game. They simply vote for who they like, not for who they think has the talent. Yeah, don’t let me start on last year’s Akademi Fantasia. That really irks me. LOL! *wink* I think my mum will see RED if I say something not nice about her idol - not that I have anything to say. If I do, I have said it all last year….! LOL! *wink*

True, Anugerah Bintang Popular IS a popularity contest, so I guess K&K will find it hard to win 4 as long as Halim is still very much in business, and for as long as he stays charming in so many women’s books! LOL! But, I hope that one day either one of them, if not both, will still one day win an award for their efforts and fun antics!

I now listen to Radio Era more for K&K than for any other reason. If not for them, I would probably have long migrated to other radio stations for I feel that Radio Era is kind of bias when it comes to playing songs on its radiowaves.

It has not been particularly fair to the other AF kids who I think have potential too. Instead they only play songs that bring them `money', so to speak. They play songs which they think will keep them in the top spot as the most listened to radio station in the country - for now. I guess that is the game of business. Money accounts 4 everything! *sigh* But, watch out, Radio Era, for if you go on like this, many more listeners of Radio Era will slowly start migrating to other radio stations, for shear frustrations, because they feel that they are not getting what they want in radio listening.

I have heard songs by Kaer (AF2), Zarina (AF2), Elliza (AF3) and a few others, being played at HOT.fm and XFresh.fm, and they are good too, if not better, than the so called 'talent' and phenomenal success of last year's AF champion. *wink*

Again, this is MY SAY.....

Works in Progress (WIP)

I started this many many years ago, but after awhile I got bored (Geminians! *grin*) ! LOL!

See what I mean when I say that I need to get the L*K Stamp-it completed quickly before my boredom creeps in? *wink*

This design is from Cross Country Stitching October 1996. I am very very keen on completing this and hope to do it sometime this year. Let's just hope I dn't get distracted with other projects first! LOL!

This one is also another piece done almost 3 years ago! *gulp* It is called Kimono Row by Design Works. I wanted 2 do a Stitch-a-long (SAL) with Ee Koon who is doing the same piece, but she beat me to it. She got hers done in under 6 months! Wow! Now I am ashame!! *head hung low*grin*

My 3rd WIP is a project I started sometime last year. I bought the chart when I was in Penang for a meeting and drop by Tammy's, thanks to Ina who was gracious enough to bring me around.

It is clock chart. I bought it after seeing so many nice cross stitch clocks at Tammy's and immediately wanted to do one. The chart looks pretty easy to do (don't judge the simplicity or complicatedness of the design just by looking at the chart! LOL!), so I thought I could get it done in no time...my estimate was one month. It is coming close to a year already! LOL!

It actually has so many colours, and the pinks are almost similar that when I stitch at nite, I tend to get confused! LOL!

After listing down my WIPs (which I have long been wanting to do in order to take charge of all my unfinished works), I realised that these are my only WIPs - only 3 - for now, at least! *grin* Isn't that great? Before this I thought I had about close to 10! It sure felt like I had so many unfinished works! LOL! Maybe I have not rummaged enough through my craft room? Maybe if I dig further, I might just find more! LOL!

September is done!

Yipee! I am happy to rreport that I completed my 8th Stamp-it (September) in eerr.....shall I say, record time?

I started on this Stamp-it last Sunday, 26 February, 2006, and completed it 7 days later! Happy! Happy! Happy! I now have 4 more to go!

I am now working on my July Stamp-it and hope to get that done in record time too! *grin*

I think I need to quickly finish this series bcoz I am really itching to start on a new project! LOL! Also, my interest on this project is starting to wane.....hehehhhhh.....eerr....is that the right word? Or shall I say, I am starting to get bored! Oopppps! I am in trouble! LOL! *wink*

my 7th......

Not bad! Considering that I have been travelling here, there, everywhere! LOL!

Yep! I completed my 7th L*K Stamp-it - March, last Sunday! Just in time to welcome in the month of March! LOL! heheh...the 1st weekend in two months that we could finally just relax and do OUR things! *grin*

For those who have been reading my blog, U would know what I mean when I say that this is the 1st weekend that we are free to do our own things. Before this, for the past 2 months, we have been tied up almost every weekend preparing either for my brother's wedding or my father-in-laws surprise birthday party. But, in between, I have managed to do some stitching! I think I need that bcoz my stitching is very therapeutic. It eases a lot of my stress (work and maid related). Though it does not take it all (ease the stress), it helps me get through the rough patches of a hectic life style of living in the city.

I am now moving on to stitching the September Stamp-it. Hope to get that done in record time too, and not get it done in September! LOL! *grin*

With the 7th Stamp-it completed, I have now passed my halfway mark! Yipee! So, I decided to feature (show-off! LOL! *wink*) all 6 stamp-it that I have completed thus far. I wanted to include the August Stamp-it (completed in December 2005) but it wouldn't look nice since I have yet to start on the July Stamp-it and have only just started on the September Stamp-it (I am a freak for perfection! LOL! *wink*) .

How do they look? Nice huh? *wink*

She annoyes me....

..or shall I say, she is irritating?

Yes, my maid irritates me! Will I have the patience to wear out the contract? It is another one and a half years before her contract expires. Sometimes I think she purposesly wants to irritate me. Either that, she simply has a very bad attitude problem, and probably....eerr......shall I say, very unintelligent? I dn't particularly want to use the `d' word.

My maid is very very very forgetful. She cannot even remember routine things like switching off the iron when done with the ironing, switching off the water boiler before retiring for the nite, bringing in my hubby's work shoes each time we come back from work, watering the plants, that sort of thing. I have told her several times already which uniform my son wears on what day to school (he wears sports attires on Tuesdays and Thursdays), but come every Tuesday, she will ask me again. *sigh*

I have to keep on reminding her on what to do......almost every day! It is like she has only started working for me only last week at the rate I am telling her what to do, but the fact is, she has been here close to 6 months already! I almost sound like `berleter' now, and I dn't like that!

I do not mind having to tell her daily what to do, if only she takes critism and reminders well. She doesn't! She gets all defensive and tells me in her mumble jumble mother tougue that she is not forgetful (hehhe...did I understand her language? *wink*)....simply put, she goes mumbling to herself whenever I remind her that she has not done this or that. She gives me an annoyed look each time I remind her anything that she has forgotten. Like as if I have no right to remind her and that she has every right to be mad with me for reminding her!

Last night, when again she forgot something that I had earlier told her to do, I told her that despite being young, she is as forgetful as an old person, and I said that in a joking manner. U know what? She had the cheek to answer me back by saying "Memang tua pun!" (You are right! I am old!), in a very annoying and defensive voice! When I told her not to answer me back (menjawab), but just to respond with a 'yes', she gave me a grunt.

This morning, when I called out to her to bring in my son's school things into the car, U wanna know what she did or did not do? She decided not to answer me! Yep! Because I told her last nite not to `menjawab'!!!!! uuurrgghh! I had to call her like 5 times before I finally got a grunt like sound coming frm deep inside her throat!

Also, this morning when I told her not to bring along certain things to my MIL's house without my prior permission (she had packed up some dirty clothes of mine which she shouldn't, to my MIL's house - according to her - to wash them), she gave me another grunt! This is so annoying and irritating! Uuurghhh!

Gosh! How much longer can I take this? My work is stressful enough. I dn't need anything more to add to that stress! Please, God, give me patience........

Niesa wrote: I think u shoud list down the job description

My response: I did. In fact, I wrote a whole weekly timetable that lists down everything that she has to do each day from morning to nite. Does she look at it? U guessed it..she didn't!

When I 1st gave it to her after a month of working for me (after so many 'forgetful' events), she does not even want to look at it, saying that she doesn't need such time tables because she will remember. The timetable also lists down ingredients for food I cook regularly, yet she still does not remember for she refuses to take a look at it. To her, I suppose, the timetable proves her lack of memory and probably is demeaning to her, thus her reluctance to refer to it. *sigh*

May Allah bless her soul...

My step great grandmother, mok moh as we call her, died peacefully in her sleep last nite. She was 86. Al-fatihah. Semoga Allah mencucuri rahmatnya. Amin.

..and so she did....

My sister just set up a blog ("The challenges a Muslim Woman faces in Islam", at nikelinzurina.blogspot.com), thanks to me..hehehh...because she wanted to post a comment at this blog but couldn't..or so she thought...because she is not a blogger.

Actually, U can still post a comment without having to set up a blog. Just click on non blogger. But, never mind, it is good that she now have a blog! hehehhh.... But, big sister, isn't the title of the blog too long that it makes it hard 4 people to remember?

BTW, thanks for the comments (she commented about my `Yikes' posting - 24 February 2006) ! I am going to have to 'swallow' all those advice first before I will act on them! *wink*

From Angie to me....

Finally I have some time to scan the card stitched by Angie for the VSCE (Valentine Stitched card Xchg) organised at Malaysian Stitchers. The roses are gorgeous!

Thanks, Angie for a lovely card!

Let's do more exchanges! hhmmm..what shall it be next? Bookmark exchange? We have done towel band xchg, flat fold xchg, sachet bag xchg, needlebook xchg, biscornus xchg, banner xchg and of course, a stitched card xchg. Is there anything we have yet to do an xchg on?

oopppps!

I did it again! I spent money without even leaving my house! LOL! *wink*

Yep! Linda came over this evening to pick up her cross stitch magazine (Just Cross Stitch) which I bought for her. I needed some overdyeds for the L*K Stamp-it and told her to bring over the whole set......bad idea! *wink*....so that I could also take a look at other colours which I fancy....yep! bad idea indeed! LOL!

My! Did she have a lot of overdyeds! She carries Six Strand Sweets (SSS), Weeks Dye Works (WDW) and Gentler Art Sampler (GAST) and my eyes were oogling looking at the collection! LOL! I love them all! Unfortunately or was that fortunately *grin* I did not have much cash with me so couldn't buy much...well sort of.....she offered to contra with future magazines which she has asked me to buy for her. Dangerous offer, Linda, at least for me! LOL! *wink* U just made me spend even more with that kind of offer! LOL!

Anyway, the guilt of buying is still there, but I am very happy with the selection I made. I am sleeping with my threads tonight! LOL! Sorry, hubby! *wink*

Thanks, Linda, for coming over and bringing a whole lot of stuff. I had a good time. It's nice to have a friend who owes a moving shop! *wink* Can we do that again some time, .....eerrr...but not too soon because it could get `dangerous' for someone like me who just couldn't resist the temptation to spend when it comes to stitching and craft stash! LOL!

It has been some time since I met up with any stitchers. I have been too busy. I miss everyone! I think I should start planning for a meet up...........

Half way there....

Yipee! Two more done of the LK Stamp-it!

I completed the January Stamp-it on Wednesday, 21 February, and the April Stamp-it was completed a few weeks back but I just couldn't find the time to snap the photo.

With these two Stamp-it completed, I have so far completed 6 Stamp-its! That's halfway done! I can't wait to get the balance 6 done soon!

I am now working on the March Stamp-it. I just hope that my interest will hold until the 12th Stamp-it! LOL! *wink* I just bought Just Cross Stitch a few days a go and there are some lovely flower charts I would just simply love to stitch! They are so gorgeous! I just hope that I can resist the temptation to start on a new project until I am done with this current one...hmmm..doesn't that statement sounds too familiar to us, stitchers? LOL! *wink*

Yikes!

I just looked at my photos taken during my brother's wedding and hated every photo of myself! I look.....eerr......rounded! *sniff*grin*

Didn't I say that I wanted to sign up at the latest gym in town recently? Well, I haven't had a chance to do so. My excuse? Was busy with my brother's wedding and my father-in-law's surprise birthday party! Yeah! Right! *grin*

But, honest.....I have been busy with work, travelling for site meetings, project briefings and managing projects. I would think that with such hectic work schedules, I would lost some weight in the process...but, guess it does not work that way, huh? LOL! *wink*

I have also been busy organising my new office which I shifted into last week. My staffs have unpacked and are all settled down into their new office, but my office is still very much a mess because I have been too busy attending meetings to get things organised. I still have 2 boxes unopened (only 2? *wink*). I can't see the surface of my table because it is covered with incoming letters and drawings that need to be checked and signed, ready 4 tender.

Next week is going to be another hectic week for me with more travels and meetings back to back. *sigh* I need a break! When can I find time to go to the gym? I rush home each day to cook dinner because my maid is....eerr....undependable.....never mind that she adds more stress to my already very stressful life! *sigh*

I am looking forward to when I can just take some days off to just spend time stitching and doing ME things. Hmmmmmmm.....

The wedding...

I picked this up from my mum's blog.....

Congratulations to both of you (Ayis and Sufia). It was a fantastic wedding. Everyone in the family chip in to make it a success. I felt so happy and elated at the professionalism displayed by all my children during the wedding. The reception at the Blue Wave Hotel in Shah Alam was really beautiful.

More can be read at her blog....http://thegoldengirl.blogspot.com/

Love the photo put up at her blog and decided to copy and paste it here too. I hope my brother and mum would not mind. By the way, that's me at the top right hand corner (insert) giving my speech with a croaking voice! LOL! Luckily there is no audio attached to this blog! LOL! *wink*

The person on the top left hand corner (insert) is my brother who read the `doa', and my sister, bottom right (insert), was the MC, while my youngest sister, bottom left (insert) gave away the 'bunga paha' to guests who gave their blessings during the 'merenjis' ceremony. My sister in-law is the one sitting on the right hand side of the groom. Not in the photo, but my hubby was in charge of accompanying the VIP guests on stage for the `merenjis' ceremony, while my son, nieces and nephew were the page boys and flower girls.

All in the family indeed!

No photos of the `cucus', Ma? *wink* I think they all look so cute with their `baju melayu' and 'baju kurung'. Page boys and flower girls with a difference!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Oopps! Am I too late in wishing everyone HAPPY VALENTINE's Day? *wink*

Anyway, here's the card stitched for the Valentine Stitch Card Xchg organised at Malaysian Stithers. This was mailed to Wendy who didn't know that I was her secret partner. *wink*

Thank you, everyone who participated in the xchange! I hope everyone liked what they got!

Thanks, Angie, for the lovely card! Muaaahhh!

Wendy wrote: I love this card, Nik.. Thanks. How come I missed so many of your postings? I thought I am online most of the time. Ops... its my blog that has not been updated!!

The speech............

Bismillahirohmanirrohim.

Assalamualaikum warohmatullah hiwabarokatuh dan salam sejahtera. A very good evening to friends and family.

First and foremost, I wish to apologize for my hoase and sexy voice tonite. The preparation for the reception has taken a toll on me, but for the sake of my brother, I am going to read the speech I had prepared earlier. I hope that everyone here tonite will bear with me.

If our father is still alive today, it would be he who would be standing here tonite giving this speech. But alas, he is not here. May Allah bless his soul. I stand here on behalf of my mother, my sisters and brothers, to give a few words of advice to our beloved newly married brother, Nik Adlin Fariz, or Ayis, as he is fondly known, and his new wife, Sufianiza, as I think our father would have given the same advice too, for I am my father’s daughter.

Our father would have said this. Ayis, marry whoever your heart desires for it is you that is getting married, not I, and it is you who will live with the person for the rest of your life. Choose wisely for she will not only be your wife, but also your partner, a mother to your children, a friend, a lover and most importantly a person who is able to love you with all her heart, for who you are, accepting you for your good and bad, past, present and future and for U to love her back with the same commitment you promised today as you would tomorrow, till death do U part.

A friend once told me that you can tell the difference between a dating couple and a couple that has been married for far too long. If you look out the window while in a car, if the couple in the car next to you or ahead of you is having a very animated discussion, that is a dating couple or a couple very much in love.

But, if you see the couple in the next car with the woman looking out of the window, and the man either looking up ahead or looking out of the window in the opposite direction, that is a couple has been married for far too long. I hope, Ayis, that you will be the couple in the former car and not the later, even when both of U are already old and grey.

When you are 1st in love, U look into each other’s eyes. After U are married, you need not look into each other’s eyes, but what is more important is to look in the same direction.

Sufia, you are one very lucky woman. Ayis is a person with a golden heart, always giving in to others. I remember a time when he was very young, probably when he was less than 3 years old, if he had already put in sweets into his mouth and that was the last piece, if U asked him for it, he would willingly take it out of his mouth to give it to U, even though it could have been his favourite sweets.

If any of his siblings needs his help, no matter what time of the day it is, he will be there for us. I have asked, not once, but many times, whenever abang man is away outstation on service, to accompany me at nite. All it needed was a phone call, and he would be at my doorstep in less than 30 minutes, even if it is already past midnite because I couldn’t sleep from hearing bumps in the nite.

Now that U are married, Ayis, can I still do that?

A quiet person among his siblings, though I doubt it that he is quiet with his friends, and especially U, Sufia, he is easy to love. So Sufia, love him with all your heart for U might never find another man as loving, as patient and as accomodating as he is. Love all of him but don’t take all of him. Leave some for us, for he still has responsibility to us as a son and brother, for he is our son and brother first before he is your husband.

Sufia, be warned that you have just married into a family who loves to talk. We can go on talking and discussing on almost any subjects until the cows come home.

Want to talk about law, ask kak lin. She’ll tell you anything and everything U need to know and don’t need to know about the law. Want to know more about the construction industry, and I can go all technical with the details. Need to know about the best hotels in town? Chik can tell you the best places to stay, but I am sure she will tell U that Renaissance is still the best of all hotels.

Need to change duit raya for distribution to 10 extra nieces and nephew? Go to abang NikAi, and he’ll do it for u for a small fee! No, just kidding! But want to understand better the economics of the country, abang NikAi will explain to U in lengthy details. And soon, insyaAllah, should U need any medical advice, U can ask our little brother Azan about all there is to know about the little life which we hope will soon be growing inside of U.

So, Sufia, we hope that you are not shy and will quickly fit in and not feel out of place once we get into a lengthy animated family discussion. BTW, should U need a comediane on ur next upcoming birthday party, kak lin just told me that if she wasn’t a lawyer, she would have been a stand up comediane.

Sufia, I hope you like to cook for Ayis is a hearty eater. Serve him anything, and most of the time it gets finished. Ayis enjoys food and I am sure he will enjoy eating food cooked and served by you.

If you find cooking not ur best forte, fear not, for the cooking class at USJ 5 is always open. Come over and we will cook up a storm that will keep our men happy for the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.

Sufia, with U marrying Ayis, we hope that we have not lost a brother but have gained a sister in you, and you in turn have not only gained 3 very nice sisters but also 2 equally good brothers. But most importantly, U have gained a mother in Ma, our beloved mother. Come to her should U need any advice, be it in the motherly section, or if U just need a word of encouragement from a mother. Love her like U love ur own mother, though not the same, she will be there for U, like all mothers would, in times of need.

Ayis, congratulations on finding your new true love. May she always greet you at the door after a hard day’s work with a smiling face and a table laden with delicious food cooked from the heart.

To Sufia, we welcome u into our family with open arms. Take good care of our dear son and brother and love him dearly. May your love for each other grow stronger with each passing year, and may you and Ayis be blessed with lots of children.

I croaked!

Continuing from my earlier posting, the last 2 weeks has been two really hectic weeks for me!

11 February was my brother's wedding reception, but, even prior to that, we were already very busy preparing for the function. There was the `bunga telur' (a gift given by the host to guests as a token of appreciation for attending the function)that needs to be done - all 300 of them. There was the `bunga paha' (a token given to those who bless the couple) that also needs to be prepared - all 100 of them.

Add to that, there was the function itself that needs to be organised, as a team - the MC, the reading of the `doa', the `thank you' speech, the video, the flower girls, the page boys, the background music....the list is endless! Organizing a function or event is not an easy task. It needs cooperation from a lot of people and from everyone involved.

We have had a series of meetings among our siblings and my mum. During those meetings, we have had our share of small family 'disagreements' on how we think certain things should be done. It is during these meetings that we realised how different we can sometimes be even though we are siblings born from the same womb. We are as individual as we are united.

On the day of the function itself, we somehow came together where things just simply fell into place and the function ran smoothly with only minor `hitches'. Would a bad sore throat that makes me sound like a croaking frog looking for his mate be considered a minor hitch? LOL! *wink*

Yep! I had a bad sore throat the day of the function where my voice was almost disappearing! And I was to give the `thank you' speech!! Can U imagine how I was feeling that day and that nite? I think it was due to so many late nites preparing for the function plus the stress of work at the office. Add to that, I also got soaked wet from the rain the day before the function while I was out with my mum looking for rose petals for the flower girls.

I can't exactly remember know how much `air asam' I drank that day in my attempt to get my voice back to it sweet self *wink*, but, fate would have it that I was to give a speech with a croaking...errr...sexy voice! LOL! *wink*

I cried that evening before the function because I so much wanted to give the speech for the sake of my brother. I had prepared the speech days ahead and had felt good about it. The crying made my voice worse and the stress trying to get my voice back added more stress to my voice and overall health. I was desparate, disappointed and sad. I was starting to throw up from the stress. It (my voice) got worse by the minute. I had no choice. I had to decide one way or another. At 5.30 pm that evening, I called up my brother, Nik Ai, to read the speech on my behalf. I cried. I felt I had let down my mum and my late dad for the speech I had prepared was a speech on behalf of both my parents and I could not read it the way I had wanted to read it. I cried for I felt that I had failed......

After I gave the speech cards to my brother, with a heavy heart, I got ready for the function. I told my mum and sister that I had asked Nik Ai to read the speech on my behalf. I still felt sad, but my voice was not improving. It was already 6.30 pm. We needed to get ready.

It was during the time when we were all busy getting ready that my sister, Nik Elin, told me about her friend, or was that her brother-in-law (sorry, Lin! Can't rightly remember. I was not in the right frame of mind at that time!), who gave a speech during his youngest sister's wedding reception with a very bad sore throat. My sister felt that I should go ahead despite my bad sore throat and it was soundly seconded by my mum.

I was not sure. Can I do it? What happens if my voice suddenly disappears altogether midway thru the speech? Will I be a laughing stock? Will I embarass my mum, the rest of my family, and espcially my newly married brother? After all, it IS his wedding reception! But, with much encouragement frm both my mum and sister, I said I will do it for my brother's sake and hope that those present for the function will bear with me. My hubby gave me much needed support and encouragement too, but, most of all, I must thank my mum and sister for their faith in me that I could carry this through.

But next came my anxiousness. My speech would only be given towards the end of the function. Can my voice hold it to that time? In the mean time, I could only sign language the guests that came. I wanted to save my voice. It was funny, come to think of it! LOL!

I lost my appetite and ate nothing that nite. I was nervous. I had spoken in public many times before in my line of work, from contractors to Prime Ministers. But speaking in public with a BAD sore throat was a first!

All throughout the function, prior to my giving the speech, I pray to Allah to let me do this for the sake of my family's honour. I had accepted the fact that I won't be able to deliver the speech with a sweet voice. It was God's fate, but I was praying that I could at least deliver the speech to the end without my voice totally disappearing.

Did I do it? Indeed I did. Phew! Did I do it well? Only those present will be able to judge, but I read my speech to the end, though with a some interuptions to take small sips of `air assam jawa'! LOL! Did I embarass myself? Hmmm....Did I? *shrughs*

Anyway, I hope Ayis and Sufia, that you will take my speech well and remember it. The speech was prepared and delivered from the heart. If U remember at least half, if not all, of the advice given, then it was worth my giving it with a bad sore throat because U cannot imagine the pain that I had to let my throat go thru to deliver that speech......

WELCOME TO THE FAMILY, Sufia!

I am posting the contents of the speech here should Ayis and Sufia ever want to refer to it. It is also my intention to start compiling all my writings here where I know that the future generations will one day read them and learn from them.

Surprised?

I miss posting here, but it has been very hectic for me lately.

First, there was my brother's wedding reception on 11 February. A week after that, on 18 February, was my father-in-law's surprise birthday party. Yeah, it was his 70th birthday and my mother-in-law wanted to do something special for him.

It was a surprise per say, but, since it was held at home, the surprise had to be told the day before the event, on 17th February, which is actually his birthday, because the canopy people had to come early to set up the tents, tables and chairs. Then next came the caterers.

By the time of the event, I can't really tell if my father-in-law was actually surprised. If he did, he didn't show it. If he knew earlier than the 17th, he also did not show it. Guess it was more to `ambil hati' my mother-in-law who took pains to plan the party as a surprise, though along the way, there were some slip-ups! LOL!

We kids just help where we can and did things as instructed. Afterall, it was HER birthday present to him.

HAPPY 70th BIRTHDAY, Ayah!

The fourth is done!

Yipee! I finished my fourth L*K Stamp-it and what could be more appropriate than to complete the February Stamp-it in February! I completed it at close to midnite on Tuesday, January 30th.

Four down, eight more to go! I am now starting on the April Stamp-it. I hope I won't take till April to finish it! LOL!

HAPPY VALENTINE's Day to all my friends and families!

..and so they wed...

That's right! My brother, Nik Adlin Fariz, and his fiance, Sufianiza, finally tied the knot on 29 January 2006 in Kota Bharu. It was a simple ceremony with only close relatives present. They got engaged in November 2005 after knowing each other slightly less than a year. May they live happily ever after with lots of kids!

Congratulations, Ayis and Sufia!

Harsha wrote : ohh how sweet. so are you gonna stitch a wedding sampler for them Nik?

My response : heheh...dn't know yet. I haven't even stitched my own wedding sampler yet. I bought the chart close to 2 years ago, but I keep putting off stitching it bcoz I seem to easily get distracted with some other charts! LOL! Maybe I shud make it a point to stitch it this year?

I am back........

It's been quite some time since I last posted here. It had been a very busy week for me last week. I was in Terengganu on Monday, 23 January, for a project site meeting and came back to Kuala Lumpur the same evening. The next day I flew to Kuching for a visit to Kuching International airport to see thh installation of the aerobridge as a familiarisation excercise since we will be fitting in the same model of aerobridge for the Terengganu Airport currently under construction. I flew back the same day too. Took the 7.35 pm flight.

Many people said I was crazy to fly back all the way from Kuching on the same day, but I still had some unfinished business in Kuala Lumpur to settle before going on leave to go back to Kota Bharu for my brother's akad nikah (solemnization of marriage) the coming weekend. Besides, I had a meeting to chair on Thursday and I needed some time to prepare for it. At the same time, I got a call from my office while I was in Terengganu telling me that we have to shift office on Thursday because arrangements (movers) had been made to move all our things to the new office.

We never did move because there were some technical details regarding the movers which could not be settled on time, thus, all our things are packed (I actually had to ask one of my staff to pack my things while I was away for work, telling him to shut one eye in case he finds things he shouldn't be looking at! LOL! *wink*) and now we are in a dilema because we could no longer do our work as all our things are now in boxes! LOL!

Oh well...looks like the staff are getting an early holiday! LOL! I am going to have to settle this matter when I get back to work next week. If not, a lot of plans are going to go off schedule and that worries me because we have a lot of deadlines to meet. *sigh*

Oh dear!

Mona and Linda just told me that the gym in Taipan is only opened for pre-registration! The gym will only be fully operational in June 2006! Oh dear! Oh dear! Oh dear! What am I supposed to do? The wedding is in 3 weeks time! I am going to be bulging here and there if I don't lose SOME weight! LOL! *grin*

Hmmm........btw, I only had salad for lunch today. Will that help? *wink*

Thursday, January 19, 2006

I am signing up!

That's it! M signing up for that gym in Taipan!

I went out lunch time today to get the dress 4 my brother's wedding this coming February. Gosh! I look terrible in it! I look FAT! That's it F-A-T! I don't think I want to wear it for the wedding, but my sister insists that we all wear the `uniform'! Uurrgghhh!!!!

Do U think if I start the excercise regime now, I'll be able to lose weight in time 4 d wedding? *wink* Or am I gonna gain a few more kilos 1st (muscle weight) b4 I can start losing weight? Oh dear! *sigh*

Completed the 3rd in a series!

Yipee! I finished the June (my birthday month! hint! hint! *wink*) series of the L*K Stamp-it! Now to go onto the 4th series - February, which I am stitching in concurrent with the Valentine Stitched Card Exchange being organised at MYS.

I will report on the progress again next week and every week (hopefully) after this, since now we are kind of organising a WIP Report every Thursday at MYS. We are suppose to set aside 2 hrs of stitching every Wednesday nite and report to the board our progress the next morning. Hope to report more progress next week.

A lot to be thankful for....

I read about Kaitlin at Harsha's blog and I am thankful that my son is generally healthy. Except for the minor asthmatic attacks frm time to time and the usual fever and flu that he keeps getting every time any member of the family gets it, he is a healthy boy and a very curious one too(just like the mommy! LOL! *wink*)!

He is adjusting well to the new school, and seems to enjoy going to school. I am thankful for that. I hope he will always enjoy going to school right into his university days. It is the mummy that is having a headche because till this day (3rd week of school), the school has yet to give him his school uniform and school text books.

I know that he does learn something at school, probably using the limited number of books available, but I could not tell what he is learning because I have no text books to refer to. I worry since this is the preparation year. My son does not seem to mind. *grin* He is happy that there are no homeworks because the previous school gives out homework at least 3 times a week and for 4 subjects - math, english, mandarin & bahasa melayu.

Oh well.....just hope that he will be ready for formal school next year.....

I am thankful for the home that we live in (especially my craft room!). I am thankful for a hubby that understands me and my never ending rotation of hobbies! LOL! I am thankful for the career that I have and hope that I will keep moving forward in my career. I am thankful for the friends that I have who understands me and stood by me through thick and thin. I am thankful for the good health that I have and hope to live long enough and healthy to see my son go thru college, get a job, get married and have children of his own. I also hope that my hubby will be with me till the day I close my eyes forever for I need his strength to get me going.

I am thankful for everything that Allah has given me. I am blessed.

May I have patience........

I am groggy from lack of sleep again. Woke up early to `spy' on my maid to see if she did what she said she did. She said that she vacuums the carpet every Wednesday morning b4 she sweeps and mops the floor. But I don't remember ever hearing the sound of vacuumming on Wednesday mornings nor any mornings for that matter! LOL!

Why spy? Because the last time I commented that the floor was dusty, she said that she had already swept and mopped the floor, but when I swept the floor again, there were still lots of dust!

I think she probably did sweep the floor but only around the furniture. She does not move the furniture away to sweep underneath them. Whatever is underneath the furniture (including my son's toys) remains dusty, so when U sit at the dining table and pull the chairs away, your feet will get all black and dusty from dust. Get what I mean? So, I just need to see how she does her work myself, without her knowing that I am looking.

Oohh....she's good! Whenever I am around, she does things the way I had taught her (well, sometimes) to do, but the minute I am out of sight, she wud take short cuts to things. An example? The cleaning of my hot non-stick suacepan, for one. The other is when she washes the car. I have shown her how to properly vacuum the car. But d minute she thinks I am not looking, she will not vacuum the car, and hope that I will not notice it. When asked if she had vaccumed, she would say that she has. Try inspecting her work, and U can see sand, dust and dirt just the way it was b4 she supposedly vacuumed the car. Am I being fussy? Maybe, but my hubby is one person who is quite accommodating, but even HE has complained that she does not wash the car well.

When confronted with d question, "Nie kotor lagi nie?" (this is still dirty), and her answer would be, "oh..di situ belum lagi. Sabarlah!" (ohh..I haven't done this one yet. Be patient!). She's asking me to `sabar' (be patient)? She does not know how patient I have been with her. Each time I pray, I ask Allah to give me patience to deal with people like this. It is no wonder that some employers just slaps their maid when they cud no longer tolerate such behavior. May Allah forbid I ever do that. When the time comes for when I cud no longer tolerate, I will just have to be without a maid. *sigh*

Sorry that I have been blabbering a lot about my maid lately. I know I sound so fussy each time I blabber about my maid. I am hoping that I will no longer have to blabber about her anymore after this, for I am hoping that she will improve or I have begun to get accustomed to her faults.

I am still thankful that I do not have to deal with d trauma of a maid running away (like Ina's maid did), and may Allah prevent that from ever happening, insyaAllah. May Allah protect us all.

I did it! Introducing.......

heheh..nothing great, really! LOL! *wink* I just started a new group at Yahoo! That is what I did. Yeah, told U it was nothing great, but I am excited just the same! *grin*

My purpose of starting the group? Oopps! BTW, the group is called Malaysian Crafters2Crafters, in short MyC2C, to be pronounced as my-see-to-see. U can get the link from the side bar of this blog.

Ok, back to my purpose. I have long been toying with the idea of selling some of my handmade craft products. It all started out quite simply because friends like my handmade cards, exclusive card blanks for cross stitch, tuck pillows and finishing work (thank you, friends, for all your support!). I thought why not turn my hobbies into something that can bring me some extra cash - to spend on more stash! LOL! *wink*

At the moment I only sell to friends. I thought of opening up the market a little bit to see if there are demands for my handmade craft products. I don't actually intend to make a living out of my hobbies, well, for now, at least, but who knows.....*wink*

I have been looking 4 venues on how to promote my crafts but couldn't find one that is simple enough (for someone that is not so IT savvy *wink*) and cheap enough too LOL! *wink* The other and more professional alternative is 2 actually set up a proper website, but I want to test the waters first before I go head on into doing so (setting up a website).

I have already set up a webshot album to showcase my works and craft products. I just need to tell more people about it. One is to promote it here. The other is to set up a group where other like-minded people (Wendy, I know you may be reading this, so you are included in the like-minded people category *wink*) can come together to share their passion and at the same time, look for supplies which they would need for their craft projects, or simply need a handmade card to send to their love ones.

That is what MyC2C is all about - a place where buyers meet sellers for craft supplies. I am hoping for more buyers than sellers, but I wouldn't mind if there are equal numbers of both. It will create more interest and I hope that the group will grow and progress into something that will benefit all parties involved.

Here's wishing myself GOOD LUCK! *wink*

Buy her perfume?

Harsha wrote : hey Nik.. try buying her a nice smelling perfume lah.. those mild ones LOL.. since she eally like to use perfume *grins*

LOL! Thanks, Harsha, but, no, I dn't think I'll buy her perfume. She will think that I had given her d green light to melaram pula. LOL! Nanti lebih lebih pula dia! I did buy her some nice smelling soap and new clothes when she first came, but her body odour is so bad, it actually camouflaged the sweet smelling soap!

She is actually one women who is simply lazy to take her bath, even after she had done housework and smells from sweat. When I told her to take a bath (after much pestering), she would put on back d same clothes she wore earlier (the one that smells from the perspiration)! I had to tell her to change into something fresh! Really!

She does not have enough clothes to wear, you say? I did just mention that I bought her new clothes when she first came because the few clothes that she brought with her was either very tight, short (where the tummy shows) or see-thru! Did she actually come to work as a maid or to work in a bar!!

And another thing.......she is simply lazy to wash her smelly clothes and would pile them up high in a basket on the floor that they were almost reaching the window sill. Add to that, her clothes smells and makes the whole room smelly! Really terrible! That is how bad this new maid is. *sigh* Even after I told her to wash her own clothes each time after she takes her bath in the morning, she still piles them up though not as bad. I don't have this kind of hygienic problem with my two previous maids.

I am tired.....

..from lack of sleep due to stress which is not work related but rather, from maid problems. *sigh* Also I had to get up early this morning to cook breakfast for my son. I'll get back to that one later. *wink*

I am one of those people who just cannot stand the smell of perfumes, especially those strong spelling ones. They gives me the headaches.

A few days after my maid arrived, she started wearing perfumes (Did I tell you that she also wore make up d 1st few days here until I told her not to? *puzzled*). I told her not to put it on due to d headaches that it is causing me. As usual, she has to give me excuses. This time it is because she has a new bottle and wants to wear it. I told her NO! Just keep the perfume and wear it when she goes back to her home country.

You wonder why maids want to wear perfume. For goodness sake, they are working as a MAID, not at a perfume counter nor a factory! I just hope that she is not up to no good. May God protect us.

Anyway, back to the present day, last nite my maid wore the perfume again. I could smell it the minute I walked into the kitchen. By then she had already gone up to bed. I switched on the fan to let the smell out and went to bed.

This morning, the minute I opened the my bedroom door, *whiff!* the smell was even stronger! She had put on more! Gosh! I almost wanted to throw out! I had to open up all the windows downstairs and switch on all the fans to get the smell out! Has she forgotten that I had forbid her from wearing perfume, or was she purposely defying my instructions? She has done this before (defying my instructions), in fact, many times before. Sometimes I wonder if she is either simply dump or just simply trying to get on my nerves!

I now wake up early to cook breakfast for my son. Before this I would ask my maid to prepare sandwiches the night before or cook fried mee, kuey teow or fried rice in the morning. My son is bored of having sandwishes for breakfast everyday, and I can't trust my maid to prepare the breakfast in the morning anymore. This is also due to her defying my instructions.

I had clearly told her (many times) that after she is done frying the mee , kuay teow or rice, not to soak the non-stick pan immediately into the water since it will damage the non-stick surface, but to wait a while for the pan to cool. I told her to do other things like cleaning up the stove, watering the plants and getting my son ready for school. By then the pan would have been sufficiently cooled enough to be washed. But, does she listens? Nope! The minute she finishes frying, down it goes under the tap of running water! *sigh* Forget about asking her why she does it when I had clearly told her not to (soaking the pan). She probably has more than 1000 excuses ready to blurt them out to me! LOL!

Am I being too fussy? Maybe, but I think not, because my two maids before this could carry out my intructions with no problems. Actually, there were small problems with the maid before this one, but they were manageable ones. The previous one was simply too simple minded that she does not think further than what I tell her to do, so, I just assume that she knows nothing and teach her everything. Though hard at first to try to teach her everything, but at least, she would not go against any of my instructions.

The 1st maid was 1st class when it comes to work. She was simply efficient. I need only tell her to do anything only once. She has her own initiative to do work, but, alas, she does not want to work as a domestic help anymore when her contract expired, but instead wanted to try working in a factory. I wish her luck!

This present maid has worked for me close to 4 months already, but, still I am at the training stage because she keeps on going against my instructions. Every day I have to tell her to do this and that. I spend less time at my hobbies than I used to as when I had the previous maid because I now do all the cooking. She only helps with the preparation and the dishes. It takes me only 30 minutes to cook, but it takes her 1 hr just to prepare a simple meal of rice, fried chicken and mixed vegetables (the preparation part is not included because that is done much earlier). Why does it take her so long, you ask? Because she is not a multi tasker. When she boils eggs to make egg sandwishes, she stands by the pot waiting for the water to boil instead of doing other tasks while waiting. Duh! And she thinks she is smart! *grin*

*sigh* May Allah give me the patience to go through this.

Live another day......

and you will learn another thing......

Today I learned about web hosting, domain names and setting up websites ( I didn't actually set up a website, just learned what it is all about! LOL!) Thanks, brother, for sparing the time to explain to me! Hugs!

Before this, everything is a blur to me! LOL! Nope, I still don't know how to set up my own eshop, but at least I am not as duh as I was before my brother explained things to me! LOL! Before this I kinda got all things confused....as usual! LOL!

Wow! so much to learn! It is only just the tip of the iceberg, but, as long as U are willing to learn, a lot of opportunities will come ur way! Don't U agree?

It is said that the furure iliterates are those who are NOT willing to learn, unlearn and relearn. Very wise words, I think. Don't U agree?

Shame on me!

It was my hubby's birthday on January 9th (HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DEAR! Love U! Muaaah!) but I did not get him a birthday pressie. My excuse? I was so preoccupied with things that has gotten me all stressed out, that I forgot to go out lunch time to buy him d gift! Shame on me!

Anyway, took him out to lunch on Monday, Jan. 9, at the DOME, Midvalley. The food is nothing much to shout about, but what is important is the company..MY COMPANY! LOL! *wink*

My son kept reminding me about abah's birthday all day Sunday. He wanted to buy abah something, but alas, my husband had a bad case of food poisoning all weekend, and my son came down with the flu!

See what I mean when I said that I kinda got myself in stressful situations? *wink* and I haven't even began to tell U the latest about my maid! LOL! Never mind that.....will tell U about that at a more suitable time and mood! For now, I am just in the mood to surf, looking for ideas on how to set up my eshop! *wink* Sounds like I am really serious about this, huh? *wink*

In case I forget, tomorrow is my niece's 14th birthday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KUYA! My, U sure are growing up too fast!

How do I start tee......

Hmmmm...I have been thinking about this for some time but not being an IT nerd, I have to learn everything the hard way..you know..do research, ask silly questions, those sort of thing. *wink*

But, after chatting with a few friends (thanks Mona, Linda and Wendy for being so patient with me with all those silly questions!), as a start I have decided to inform visitors to this blog that I have a webshot album that features some of my work, which some are available for sale. U just need to send me an email asking for the price and postage charges.

I hope to one day set up my eshop (when my brother is free enough to set one up for his dear sister - which will have to be after his upcoming wedding in January, then his honeymoon, but hopefully, not after his wife delivers with their 1st child! LOL! *wink*).

I want to give this a try (selling my handmade products) because it has been something I had always wanted to try my hands on. I have always told my hubby that I am creative at coming up with handmade stuff, but I need him to do d sales for me since I am kind of shy! *wink* I want to be able to share my passion with people who appreciate things that are painstakingly put together.

So, friends, do drop by my webshot album at
http://community.webshots.com/album/115990376vnfXhY

I will be updating the album from time to time. Do come back often. Once my eshop is up, I will definitely put up a post!

Thanks!

Moments to treasure......

It is the new year and school has reopened. My hubby and I took leave the other day to send my son to school. Though this is his second year in kindergarten, but it was the 1st day at the new kindie. My MIL had moved to a new area, and the former school was simply too far away.

Although we wud have preferred for him to carry on at d previous kindie since we like the program there, it takes too long for him to get home. There were days when my son got home too tired that he refused to eat his lunch. Besides, the transport fee is also simply too high due to d distance.

Oh well....we have to move on...and my son is growing up too fast! Just d other day he asked us for a car.We thot he wanted a toy car, but, nooooo, he wanted a real life car!LOL! The reason? Abah drives too slow. He wants to go home quicklyso that he can get home sooner to play with his toys (that's thebaby in him! *grin*).He wants to take over the wheel! LOL! And last nite, I saw him`thinking' and when I asked him what was he thinking about, U want 2 know what he said? *wink* He was thinking of what type of car toget! When I asked him what car he wanted, he answered `would aVolvo do?'? ROTFL! I wanted to faint! *grin*

All buttoned up!

I got the idea for this card while browsing thru my many craft magazines *grin*. I kinda like the look of it. Kind of different, don't U think so? Many years ago I wud never have thot of doing up a card using buttons! LOL!

Live another day, learn another thing!

Where did it go?

Uurrgh! I wrote a very long posting about my experience of stitching by the pool and sadly the posting never appeared! I wonder why? This is really frustrating! I should have backed it up but I have never experienced it b4 this - something I wrote and published but it never got published! I wonder what has happened to it! *sigh*

One paper, four designs!

....and 3 different colours!

Using just one background paper, I tried several designs to see which looks best. However, when I finished doing up all, I couldn't decide which one is the best because I think each one is unique! *grin* But, I think I like the one with the porcupine best! *wink*

Isn't it purrrrr-fect? *wink*

I just picked this up at the framers on Friday. A simple nameplate for my nephew, but I am just as proud of it as I am of all of my other pieces. *wink*

The framing is simple too. Nothing like what Tammy's in Penang can do, but never the less, it is still nice. Don't you think so? *wink* The colour is so vibrant!

Two done!

Ten more to go!

Yipee! Another one completed! This is fun! If onl I could complete all my stitching this fast, I'd be completing all my WIPs and UFOs in no time! LOL!

Anyway, I completed this close to midnite on Saturday, 24 December. I am now about 1/4 done on d next month. Hope to get it done just as fast though I doubt it coz I wud now have to start on the Valentine Stitched Card Xchg which is due to be sent out on February 2006. I want to try and complete the xchg 1st coz I am also involved in 2 other craft xchg (January image swap and GTKY xchg) at The Stamping Addict board. This is something new to me and I am looking forward to the xchg. Just hope that my partners will like what I will be sending out to them.

Merry Christmas!

Wishing all my Christian friends Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Happy holidays, everyone!

May is done!

Yipee! I finished May's Stamp-it! heheh...I still have 11 more months to go! LOL! But, heck, at least one month is completed! *grin*

I started on the August Stamp-it and is now about 30% completed. Can't wait for this one 2 be completed too!

Sad, isn't it?

My heart cries out to the 10 month old baby that died in his sleep last nite (The Star, pg 24, 19 Dec. 2005). He was abused by his mother's boyfriend. Why are some people so cruel? The child is hardly a year old. He knows nothing. The problem is with the mother and the boyfriend. Why did the boyfriend have to torture the baby? Has he no heart? Is he human? What causes him to do it? Stress?

Each time I read of abandoned babies and abused babies/small children, my heart cries. How could someone do such a thing? What causes them to do it? Is life getting too difficult that U are constantly under pressure? U need to vent out ur anger and d easiest person to let it out on is someone innocent?

Why abandon a child that U had carried for 9 months? If U think U cud not love him/her or care for her/him, give him/her up for adoption. Don't abandon d child. The child knows nothing. All he/she wants is love. There are many childless couples out there who wud be more than happy to care 4 an unwanted child. Do not deprive the child of a life just because of ur mistakes. The child is innocent. Just love the child for God will help U thru. Every child comes with his/her own 'rezeki'. U will survive the hardship, if only U are patient. Nothing comes easy.

Every day I look at my son and I feel so blessed. God has given me a person to love and to love me back. I thank Allah for the `rezeki' that He has given me. Eight years of waiting has been worth it. He is my everything.

Lately he has been asking for an `adek'. Only God knows how much I want to give him an 'adek'. It hasn't been easy. Two failed attempts has left me traumatised. Do I want to go thru the whole `ordeal' again? I am already 43 years old. Would dat be wise for me to try for a baby again at this age? *sigh*

Opps! I did it again!

Yep! I did it again! I started on yet another new project just when I said that I wasn't! *grin* I don't usually go back on my words, honest, but when it comes to my hobbies, it is so easy to do just that! LOL!

I started on the LK Stamp-it! I know I said that I wasn't going to start on anything new until I hv completed my clock chart, but can I use d excuse that since M going 2 be doing a lot of travelling soon, I need a project that is easy to stitch and bring along? *wink*

U see, the clock chart is a little complicated to be bringing it around during my travels.....*wink* Yeah! Rite! *grin* Excuses! Excuses! Oh well...it's done...now I'll just have to keep at it and hope that I will get this one done before I start on the next new project! *wink* Yeah, rite! We'll see! LOL!

My feelings for today.......

It is Friday. This week is almost coming 2 d end, and another week will start. Life goes on. Today I feel sad. Not bcoz of reasons anything to do with me and people close to me, but something I read in the papers yesterday and today.

I have never touch on the issues of artiste coz I consider them a species different from us normal human beings. But reading about Erra Fazira and Yusry's troubled marriage yesterday touched me and made me sad. I consider them a very beautiful couple meant for each other, and it is sad to see them going thru a bad patch.

I have followed KRU's career 4 d last 10 years and find them one of the more professional artistes that we have in our country. They have been very professional in almost everyway they handle their careers, even during the hardest times of their career when a lot of people were condemning them. They took every critic positively. They took it in their stride to improve themselves. They have gone through the rough ride and came out stronger.

I do hope that Erra and Yusry will be able to go thru this rough tide too and come out stronger. It wud be sad to see them breakup. They look good together and frm the photos yesterday, they still look as if they still love each other.

Every marriage has its challenges. U just need to be ready to face them. Being both celebrities does not help when d spotlight is always on you. People say that there are itches in every marriage - the 1st year itch, the 3rd year itch, the 7 year itch and the 10 year itch. If U can survive these itches, then U can survive the rest of your marriage, though there are people that do break-up even after a 25 year marriage, which is very sad, may God forbid it from happening to any couple.

I guess the most important factor in every marriage is to have respect for each other although the husband is considered the head of d family. We are in the modern world where women are more vocal. U stil hv to respect ur hubby as the one that heads the family, but the husbands must also respect the wives and listen to her opinion too bcoz wives nowadays are not so simple minded as wives of 20 years ago. There must be lots of give and take in marriages now, and lots of patience.....heheh...I sound like a marriage counsellor! LOL!

No, I am not saying I am perfect. Everyone has flaws. I am only human! *grin* I always remind myself of the importance of respecting others no matter what your social status may be, and be it at home, at work, at family get togethers or anywhere else. It's a tough world these days. I pity our kids. I remember enjoying my chilhood days being a child. But kids nowadays have to grow up fast to catch up with the times. They can no longer be kids what with parents expecting them to perform straight A's all the time, myself included, and my son is not even in formal school yet! LOL! *grin*

Our education system is so exam oriented, that our kids are only taught how to pass exams and not to understand what they are learning. It is sad. No wonder we get angry easily. We are so stressed out. We jump at the slightest mistakes of others and want to pick up a fight at any chance possible. Sad huh? What is the world coming to? *sigh*

When will we ever have it maid.....

I don't have anything in particular to write today, but I feel the need to write. You know, sometimes I get feelings like these..feelings that I have something troubling me, but just can't make out exactly what it is, or maybe I am just refusing to admit what I am feeling, or maybe too, I am in denial of what I am feeling. Hmm...did I just confuse everyone? *wink* I am good at that - confusing people, and I end up confusing myself too! LOL!

Anyway, I think part of the reason I am feeling this way, I think, is because of my mother-in-law's new maid. Yep! The subject still isn't over yet! *sigh* It has been two months since she came and I still call her new because it seems she never seems to learn. My MIL has to reteach her certain things, well, ok, most things, almost daily. It stresses out my MIL and indirectly stresses me out too because, like it or not, it affects my maid too.

With my MIL's former maid, she (the maid) is considered the head butler, as my hubby likes to say. She takes command (of course with my MIL's consent) in the running of the daily chores. She instructs the other maids (my maid and my SIL's maid) on things to do so that everyone has got certain tasks to do each day. In the process, my maid learns things which I might not have time to teach like cooking certain favourite food of ours, what to cook for our son, how to take care of him while at my MIL's house, the do's and don't, and the basic personal hygiene. It eases a lot of the burden of training. My maid and my SIL's maid listens to her and respects her as the `head butler'. There is no such thing as this is your job, not my job and things like that.

With the current situation, my MIL's maid is supposed to be the head butler, but she being...eeerr...shall I say the word?....a litle blur and duh....the other 2 maids bullies her and takes advantage. Whenever my MIL ask my maid (I dn't know about my SIL's maid) to do something, she would start calling out to my MIL's maid in her mother tongue, and the next thing you know, my MIL's maid would come running in, even though she is in the middle of doing something else, and do what was supposed to be done by my maid.

I have several times told my maid not to pass on work instructed by my MIL for her to do to my MIL's maid. Yeah, she said she didn't, but, you know.....they always have answers to everything! *sigh*

When my MIL asked her maid why she did work that was intructed to my maid, the maid answered that because she was asked to do so. Duh! And she is supposed to be the head butler! You get the picture? She can be bullied around and my maid is far younger than her!

My maid is smart, well, in a way, and always has a ready answer to everything!! If I keep repeating my instructions to her about the do's and don't, I will start to sound like a broken record...errr..is there such a thing as a broken CD or DVD? *wink*

Both maids gives me the headache! I actually came home last nite with a throbbing headache that just wouldn't go away until this morning! Can you imagine what my MIL is going through?

I wish we had my MIL's former maid back. At least she will put my maid and my SIL"s maid in their places. Now, the younger maids are controlling the head butler. Can you imagine a restaurant kitchen where the kitchen help is giving orders to the head chef? Chaotic isn't it? That's how my MIL's house is like - chaotic!

You say why dn't I just not send my son to my MIL's house so that she can't bully my MIL's maid? Well, my hubby and I did gave it some thought, but I just can't come to work leaving my son with just the maid. I have heard too many horror stories concerning maids left home to do whatever they please since you are not around to supervise them. My son is too young to tell on her. He can still be bullied by my maid not to tell on her. You have to remember, my maid is a smart one!

On the other hand, my maid's presence at my MIL's house, though she bullies the older maid, is actually a help to my MIL when it comes to cooking. My MIL can now entrust her to cook some basic food when my MIL is too tired to do so. That leaves me very confused.......and in a dilema....

I have sometimes resorted to taking leave one day a week so that my MIL is `free' of one maid at least 3 days a week, instead of 2 (I no longer work Saturdays) and I am at home supervising my maid. But I can't be doing this all the time. My work demands that I be at work to manage things in the office too. After all, isn't a maid supposed to lighten your burden, and not be a burden to you?

Life goes on. We need to adjust to every new thing that passes our way, but this new thing is taking too long to get adjusted too. It's beginning to take a toll on me.......*sigh*

Did I just say earlier that I have nothing to write? LOL! *wink*

More cards!

square greeting cards

card blanks

I have been busy....

..in my craft room doing up cards! *grin*It has been a very long time since I spent time doing up cards, due to a hectic work schedule and unforeseen circumstances lately, but last weekend, I spent most part of that weekend doing just that and I am very pleased with myself! LOL! *wink*

I made 3 different types of cards (yep! I have definitely been very busy! LOL!) - rectangular cards, square cards and card blanks. If there are no takers 4 d festive christmas cards, they will definitely be on their way to some, hopefully, lucky people! *wink*I am still in d mood to make more cards, but I also need to take some time off frm making cards to put in some stitches on my clock chart. I am definitely going 2 try to finish it off before the end of the year so that I can get started on the Lizzie Kate Blocks and the Flipits.

We will just have to see if I can make it! LOL! Another year end resolution? *wink* I wil post photos on the progress of that piece later. Keep a look out for this page! *grin*

I am also trying to finish off my Kimono Row which I started some 3 years ago! Oh my! I'd better get offline and start stitching! LOL!
