Your vote matters

hehe.....I sound like I am a politician campaigning for a political party when I hear myself saying that! LOL! And I am not even interested in politics! *grin*

I have never bothered, or shall I say, voting day has never gotten me excited enough to want to make me write about it. But, for some reason, I just feel like putting down my thoughts on it this time around. Could it be because I realised in the last two elections that who you vote for can actually make a difference to your future?

Maybe it is not that obvious here in Kuala Lumpur, as I think that the current/present ruling party is quite strong in its position. But, if you go to Kelantan or Terengganu, you can feel the difference.

I was in Terengganu last week for work, and over dinner, a majority of the topics discussed would somehow touch on the coming election and the local candidates running for election. My personal opinion or feel, while in Terengganu, is that the atmosphere is one of uncertainty, nervousness and anxiousness.

Terengganu was ruled by the opposition party for one term before it was won back by the present party under the Barisan National umbrella during the last election. This time around, there are mixed feelings among the people I met in Terengganu about the future of the state. Some wondered what will happen if the opposition party were to be able to win over the state again, and what will happen to all those projects already commited. Will they go on, or will they all be halted. It's a question that can only be answered come tomorrow when everyone will cast their votes to choose who they think should rule the state.

My personal opinion? I think that the present Menteri Besar of Terenganu has brought a lot of developemnet for the state since he became the MB four years ago. He has plenty of good and new ideas, and I think he still has much more under his sleeve for the people of Terengganu. He wants to see Terengganu progress even further. It would be good if he can continue to be the MB for another term, but, alas, I am not voting in Terengganu.

I met Dato' Seri Idris Jusoh (MB of Terengganu) personally several times during several project presentations, and I find him very pleasant. Charming too! *wink* There is no air about him. He acknowledges my presence each time we meet and treats me like a lady, asking me to join him at his table each time if there is a meal served after the presentation. He respects me for the professional that I am, and listens to my ideas, even though he is a Menteri Besar, a person of whom I hold high respect for.

He is just a very humble man with lots of vision for the state. He wants to put Terengganu on the map of the world. He wants to make Terengganu the gateway to the East Coast with the construction of the new Airport Terminal, which he hopes to someday upgrade it into a regional airport, if not an international airport. He can only do that if he wins in this election, and if the present ruling party is brought back to power in the state.

I wish Dato' Seri Idris Jusoh good luck for the coming election. May he gets to visualize all his visions that he has set for the state, and may we have another chance to meet again so that I can personally congratulate him and thank him for the opportunity he has given me to make his dream a reality through the projects that I do.

HAPPY VOTING, EVERYONE!

He's the one that offered you the shade of his umbrella?

Happy voting to you too :)
